CdTe

In thin film photovoltaics, solar panels based on Cadmium Telluride (CdTe) have rapidly been gaining popularity. The manufacturing process requires several thermal processing steps, including heat treatment under chlorine-containing species and annealing of the electrical contact. BTU leverages its experience with large-scale, in-line thermal processing systems. These systems can be well over 100 feet in length and include specialized features like Active Load Monitoring™ to reduce scrap and contained atmospheric ambient. BTU has the operational and engineering expertise to produce furnaces of such size and complexity in volume. BTU’s Perseas™ platform for CdTe processing is available in configurations for the contact formation and chlorine anneal applications. The system design is scalable and systems are being offered for R&D, pilot, and production-sized applications.
